Standards

The KIT Telehealth Solutions platform and associated mobile components follow international standards. It aims at interoperability with existing and emerging IT infrastructures in the healthcare sector as well as with medical sensors and consumer devices.

To permit end users to deploy a wide range of standardised components, the system was developed based on the design guidelines of the Continua Health Alliance. This refers to standards such as ISO/IEEE 11073, which is a group of standards defining the constituents of a system exchanging vital data between different medical devices. It also refers to established technologies such as Bluetooth and Near Field Communication.

Interaction with medical practice software and hospital information systems is via modern secure ELGA infrastructure architectures which use international standards and institutions such as IHE, HL7 and CDA.

Since the KIT Telehealth Solutions platform manages highly sensitive health data, the highest security standards are observed during the course of development and operation.
